Innovations proposed by Dubai Municipality employees have won eight awards in 2017 from international and Arab organisations dedicated to ideas and innovation, according to Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality.
He added that the municipality supports the creativity and innovations of its employees and encourages them to present their ideas and suggestions that help in achieving the goals of the Dubai Municipality Strategic Plan and the directives of the Government of Dubai.
Lootah noted that Dubai Municipality is keen to motivate its employees and teams to participate and win international awards, which reflects the efforts of the municipality and its integrated working systems in pioneering fields. He explained that the municipality won eight awards and six honorary certificates from various organisations, including the Ideas Arabia initiated by Dubai Quality Group, Ideas UAE Organisation, Ideas America Organisation and the Ideas UK Organisation.
The proposed ‘Dubai Lamp’ won first prize in the Ideas Arabia Award. The “Integrated System for Medical Waste Treatment in Dubai” won first prize in the Ideas America Award and the Best Idea for Sustainability Award from the Ideas UK Organisation. The winning ideas qualified for the Idea of the Year Award of the Global Ideas Organisation, which will be announced in January 2018.
The “Smart Aerial Survey” won the Gold Award as the Best Entrepreneurship Idea at the Ideas UAE Conference. The “Currency Charity Bank” won the Distinguished Achievement Award from the jury at the Ideas UK Conference.
The winning ideas covered a number of topics including sustainability, surveys, waste treatment, health and safety. The municipality received honorary shields from Ideas UK for “Irrigation System with Solar Power on Roundabouts” and Dubai Lamp. The proposal for “Innovative Procedure for Using Several Weights” also received the Ideas America Award.
