Dubai Customs (DC) launched an integrated action plan to implement the fourth generation of Government Excellence System, launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in 2015, to upgrade the government work system based on innovation and standards of excellence.
DC has begun conducting awareness workshops for all its divisions and centres, and set up a timetable to ensure it makes an exceptional participation in the next edition of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme, DGEP. The department has also submitted applications to 25 categories that have been adjusted to fit in with the new system.
Dubai Customs hosted a discussion forum, under the slogan, “Stars of Excellence”, where previous winners of the DGEP passed on their experiences to future candidates and the people of DC in general.
A two-day seminar was held at the Marriott Hotel in Dubai for department and section heads and DGEP teams to determine the gaps between the requirements of the new system and what has been achieved so far. The gap analysis sent by criteria officers was reviewed and the criteria merged, based on the main axis of the 4th generation of the Government Excellence System. Regular meetings with stakeholders were held to discuss the gaps analysis.
The Chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, said, “Following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum towards the implementation of the fourth generation of the Government Excellence System, Dubai Customs has put forth an integrated action plan to ensure optimal implementation of the system axis.”
“The fourth generation system, which is a result-oriented system, is designed to upgrade the government performance through unified government initiatives and programmes that will ensure better efficiency of resources, by eliminating repetition and duplicity of work,” he added.
The Director of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, said, “The implementation of the system will enable government entities to achieve the welfare and happiness of people, keeping pace with the trend in the UAE to deliver top notch government services that give the UAE its competitive edge.”
