The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a certificate of commitment towards ISO standard ISO 27037:2012, which provides guidelines for how to deal with digital evidence.
DEWA received the ISO certification based on criteria that includes procedures to ensure the safety and reliability of digital evidence by searching, identifying, and documenting the information, and preventing it from being lost. The criteria also include the acquisition of information, making copies, and documenting, to maintain and ensure the accuracy of the information to be used at a later stage. This data will also be utilised in the exchange of digital information between DEWA and its stakeholders, to achieve complete integration of data-verification operations.
“DEWA works to predict risks and provide protection to citizens and residents of the UAE. This supports the vision of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the Smart Dubai initiative, to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world,†said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
Al Tayer explained that DEWA strives to adopt the latest techniques in information security, adopt the best international standards, and keep up with the latest developments in information security. “This supports our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility,†Al Tayer addded.
