Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, organised a summer camp for children under the theme, ‘Engineers of the Future.’ The summer camp features specialised training programmes to develop children’s communication skills, helping them cope with pressure, face obstacles, and enhance teamwork, to promote innovation among children, and create a platform by which they can improve their skills, with a focus on electrical and mechanical engineering, science, and mathematics.
DEWA’s summer camp is open to all citizens and residents between the ages of 12-15, and will be held from 7th-18th August, 2016, at DEWA’s Reading Tent, which is located at Gate 2 of Zabeel Park.
The camp features a host of activities and entertainment programmes to prepare children for a promising future career while developing their technical skills, and encourage research by students to harvest a new generation focused on science and technology.
“This supports the National Innovation Strategy, launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to position the UAE as one of the most innovative countries in the world, and the Dubai Innovation Strategy, launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to make Dubai the most innovative city in the world.
DEWA’s summer camp enhances social development and instils a culture of innovation among the future generations of the UAE.
The camp will play a major role in developing the skills and abilities of children in different aspects of electrical and mechanical engineering.
It will also include a number of programmes and educational workshops that will provide children with the required skills and information, said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer,” MD and CEO of DEWA.
