Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) awarded contract worth AED288 million to construct two rectangular, reinforced, concrete 60-million-gallon reservoirs in Al Nakhali. This will hold 120 million gallons of desalinated water to increase Dubai’s storage capacity to 1,010 million gallons.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa, said, “This project supports directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and is in response to continued growth in demand for water to meet needs of ambitious urban, economic, and social projects, in line with Dewa’s strategy to provide water reservoirs.â€
He added that it also enhances efficiency and reliability of water network and increases water fl-ow to fulfil increasing demand for water across all of Dubai.
