Citigroup Inc. hired Gavin Michael from JPMorgan Chase & Co. to oversee technology for its consumer bank.
Michael replaces Mark Torkos, who retired in July, New York-based Citigroup said Tuesday in an e-mailed statement. He starts Nov. 14 and will report to Stephen Bird, chief executive officer of the global consumer bank, according to the statement.
Michael, who has a doctorate in computer science from Australian National University, was head of digital for consumer and community banking at JPMorgan, according to the statement. He earlier worked at Accenture Plc, where he was chief technology innovation officer.
Heather Cox, who ran a unit at Citigroup focused on mobile banking, left last week for United Services Automobile Association, where she will be chief technology and digital officer. Yolande Piazza, chief operating officer of Citi FinTech, will assume interim responsibility for that business until a successor is named, the bank said.
