The beauty care industry being one of the most resilient industries has witnessed exponential growth globally. One of the fastest growing markets worldwide, Dubai is all set to open doors to the region’s biggest beauty care and products exhibition Beautyworld Middle East on May 15.
It is expected that more than 1,500 exhibitors from 60 countries would be participating at the 21st edition of the beauty trade fair.
Considering the demand of beauty care products in the MEA’s market, it has been evaluated that Saudi Arabia and the UAE together account for a quarter of the market. Following which the respective markets are projected to grow by 12 percent and 5.8 percent respectively.

Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Messe Frankfurt Middle East, told Emirates Business “We have always tried to bring in more variety and new innovative products. This time we are featuring an inspiring line-up of products from the world’s most creative brands at Beautyworld Middle East 2016.â€
According to the organisers, 60 exhibitors have confirmed launching a new product in the Middle East across the three-day event. The event will be featuring five arenas that will include Cosmetics and Skincare; Fragrance; Hair, Nails, and Salon Supplies; Machinery, Packaging, and Raw Materials; and Professional Equipment and Spa.
Further emphasising on the beauty and care market, Saudi Arabia dominates the overall sales market, with a national US$5.3 billion spend in 2015, but the UAE has the highest per capita spend at US$239 in 2015.
Although the UAE’s per capita spend will still be the region’s highest in five years, at $295, Saudi Arabia will close the gap, with individual spend increasing from $168 in 2015 to $273 in 2020.
“In the 21st edition we will shed light on the latest innovations in beauty and wellness, while the scores of special features will redefine the way the regional beauty and wellness market does business,†he added.
The event’s main highlights will include the debut features Quintessence – the art of perfume; Battle of the Barbers; Trend Forum; and the revamped Business in Beauty Summit. Returning highlights include Centre Stage by Nazih Group; Fragrance Station; Hair Education by ghd; and Nail It! By OPI.
Messe Frankfurt Middle East have however, offered ‘top ten’ pick to look out for, as the international companies continue to aim to establish a strong foothold in the US$25.4 billion beauty and personal care market of the Middle East.
Brazilian beauty products to wow customersÂ

A group of 25 Brazilian companies from the hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics sector will attend Beautyworld Middle East, the largest international trade fair for beauty products, hair, fragrances and wellbeing in the Middle East, taking place from May 15-17 in Dubai.
They will attend the exhibition as participants of the project Beautycare Brazil, organized by the Brazilian Association of the Personal Hygiene, Perfumery and Cosmetics Industry (Abihpec) and by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, Apex-Brasil, to promote the sector’s products in the international market.
According to Beautycare Brazil’s manager, Gueisa Silverio, the number of companies set to attend Beautyworld Middle East has increased by 31.5% over last year, when 19 companies attended.
The 339 square meters Brazilian pavilion will be located in a prime area near one the fair’s entrance. As in the previous edition, the pavilion will have hair wash stands for companies to demonstrate hair products.
“The Middle East is a strong market in the consumption of products from the personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics sector”, said Silverio, speaking to the Brazilian news agency (ANBA). A survey carried out by Abihpec shows that Saudi Arabia is at 16th place in the rank of the world’s largest consumers of products from the sector. The UAE appears in 35th position, with Egypt at 47th.
Last year, exports to Arab countries by companies from Beautycare Brazil surpassed US$5.3 million and increased 19.1% over 2014. In all, 15 companies from the project exported to the UAE, eight to Saudi Arabia and six to Egypt, in a list of only the most representative destinations in the region. For the overall international market, companies from the project exported US$162.6 million to 97 countries. Arab nations accounted for 3.3% of the total. In 2014, the region represented only 2.5% of a total of US$183.2 million.
In last year’s edition of Beautyworld Middle East, the companies from Beautycare Brazil made 796 contacts and ended the event with expectations to generate business worth US$11.4 million. According to Silverio, the expectation for contacts and sales this year is also positive.
The 21st edition of the three-day event is taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, and features more than 1,500 exhibitors from 60 countries. The show is organised by the Messe Frankfurt group, one of the leading trade fair organisers in the world with a presence in more than 150 countries around the globe. It is open to trade visitors only, and children will not be allowed inside the exhibition hall.
