The American University of Sharjah (AUS) and Dubai Police (DP) on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to build a framework for collaborative educational activities engaging DP with AUS colleges on internships, work-study programmes, scholarships and innovative use of advanced technology.
The three-year MoU will allow the partnering entities to jointly develop and offer Six Sigma certification, organise quality training and professional development programmes to enhance and disseminate knowledge, jointly design a Quality Expert diploma, provide Cyber security training courses, and support the launch of Smart Services in accordance with Dubai Smart City initiative.
It will also provide support in the field of creativity, innovation and the use of advanced technology, and support student internships, undergraduate student projects, and graduate theses.
Dr. Bjorn Kjerfve, Chancellor of AUS, and Major-General Dr. Abdul Quddus Al Obaidly, Assistant Commandant General for Quality and Excellence at Dubai Police, signed the agreement.
“We are excited to sign this agreement with Dubai Police,” said Dr. Kjerfve. “Like DP, we too have a commitment to the community and are extremely pleased to partner with them in this endeavor. This MoU emphasises the intent of both parties to maintain continuous cooperation and understanding in order to advance supportive ventures for mutual benefit.”
“We are pleased to sign an MoU with AUS and hope it will enable both entities and the UAE as a whole to work together, specifically in the field of innovation and creativity,” said Dr. Al Obaidly.
“We would also like to explore more involvement from students and seek help from AUS’s expertise in research and development.”
