Arab superstars to wow crowds at SWMF

Region’s most popular cultural acts is almost over! Sharjah World Music Festival 2017 (SWMF 2017) is gearing up for a grand opening at Al Majaz Amphitheatre at 8:00pm on Friday, with Arab superstars Hussain Al Jassmi and Egyptian pop queen Sherine Abdel Wahhab.
This is without a doubt a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for enthusiasts of Arabic pop, who will witness sensational performances by both artists amid breathtaking settings. Sherine, popularly known as the ‘Queen of Feelings’, will be debuting before a Sharjah audience and open the evening with a selection of her biggest hits like “Ah Ya Leil” and more.
Emirati sensation Hussain Al Jassmi will take the stage next, and will hopefully deliver yet another magical performance, leaving the audience as smitten as he has done on several occasions before.
Tickets have been priced to suit a range of budgets and seating preferences, are available in six categories from AED 250 to AED 1,500. They are available with the customer services at Masrah Al Qasba Theatre, Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Al Majaz Waterfront and The Flag Island Theatre, and can also be purchased online.
Emirati Artist Hussain Al Jassmi said: “Opening SWMF 2017 will be a special way to start my year, especially because it will mark my debut into public performances this year, right here in my smiling emirate of Sharjah. I would like to extend a warm welcome as part of Sharjah’s and SWMF’s invitation to all the festival’s attendees. The presence of an audience always delights my heart, and if God wills, my evening with them at Al Majaz Amphitheatre on 6th January will be exceptional.”
Egyptian artist Sherine Abdel Wahhab said: “It is always enormously exciting for me to meet a new audience and be able to perform their favourite hits live on stage. To play at the Sharjah World Music Festival makes that even more special. This will be my debut in the Emirate of Sharjah and from the comments and feedback I have received so far, I know this will be as thrilling for me as it is going to be for my fans. I will try to make sure they never forget my performance, after all, they are the source of my strength,
inspiration and motivation.”
Artist Furat Qaddouri, Manager of SWMF said: “From
January 6-14, Sharjah and the UAE will witness an outstanding artistic movement showcasing 24 artists from 14 countries around the world. Having built a legacy of cultural excellence in its past three editions, the patrons of SWMF expect the festival to deliver a certain level of artistic quality. Ticket sales have been better than ever, and we are anticipating a big public turnout, given the diversity of musical tastes and genres this fourth
edition will be covering.”

The fourth edition of the SWMF will feature a collection of concerts, musical shows and artistic activities with local, regional and international music, in line with Sharjah’s goal to be a regional incubator of culture and art.
The festival will host a lineup of the best Arabic and Western musicians and bands, most notably, Sherine Abdel Wahhab, Hussain Al Jassmi, The Legend of Oud (Naseer Shamma, Necati Celik, Husain Sabsaby, Khaled Mohammed Ali) , Reham Abdel Hakim accompanied by the Cairo Opera House Orchestra conducted by maestro Mohammed El Mougi, Mike del Ferro Quartet, Deborah J Carter, Niladri Kumar, Daniel Mille, David Dorantes, Marina Heredia, Chico and the Gypsies, Oussama Rahbani and Hiba Tawaji, Nagham Al Emirat Band and Jasem Mohamad, Nina & The Guitar Player, Tarabich, Trio Allegria, Latin Street Band, Elena Dueto, and the Drums of Love. This year’s edition will feature a new bran element- the piano competition, presented by Furat Qaddouri Music Center.
By organising this first of its kind festival, Furat Qaddouri Music Centre seeks to boost the cultural and art presence of Sharjah and the UAE, introduce various musical cultures around the world to the UAE community and add a new dimension to the emirate’s repertoire of tourist, art and culture attractions.
