The Emirati women have made their presence felt in different walks of life thanks to the relentless efforts made by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, in areas of development and empowerment, an Arab League official said.
“The UAE has and still been making tremendous efforts to advance and empower women who today take senior roles, especially in the decision-making process,” Enas Makkawi, Director of Women, Family and Children’s Department at the League of Arab States, told the state-run news Agency (WAM) in a statement ahead of the second Emirati Women’s Day on August 28.
She noted that Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi was elected Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), the first woman to occupy the post in the Arab World, and Shamma bint Sohail Faris AlMazrui was named Minister of State for Youth Affairs, becoming the youngest female minister in the world.
