ADEC, Musanada officials visit new school buildings

Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), accompanied by Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of ADEC’s School Operations, and Ali Alhaj Al Mehairbi, Executive Director of Buildings Construction Management at the Abu Dhabi General Services Company, Musanada, toured two of the new school buildings located in Mohammed Bin Zayed and Shakhbout in Abu Dhabi that will be opened by the beginning of the next school year 2017-2018.
Suwaidan Al Dhaheri, Musanada Acting Chief Executive Officer, visited four other new schools in
Al Yahar, Al Shuaiba, Ain Al Faida, and Al Qou areas.
The visit comes as part of ADEC’s keenness to realise the visions and aspirations of the Abu Dhabi government to achieve economic growth and diversity through a world-class education system. This will be made possible through the creation of an optimal educational environment that supports creativity and innovation in order to prepare well-informed and promising generations.
Dr Ali Al Nuaimi said that opening of these schools comes as part of the ADEC Future Schools Programme, which complies with the best international standards and practices in terms of facility design and provisions of a friendly learning environment. This corresponds to the needs of future generations and provides them with the best learning experience, through educational facilities designed to cater to different categories of students, particularly those with special needs.
“Future Schools are the first schools in the emirate to comply with the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council’s Estidama sustainability standards achieving two-pearl rating certification from the Council, which improves local material use and encourages resources and waste minimisation,” he added.
Al Dhaheri noted that Musanada has been keen on delivering school facility projects within the planned schedule and according to the highest international standards.
The new schools in Abu Dhabi include one KG and C1 school in Mohammed Bin Zayed City with a capacity of 60 classes in C1 to accommodate 1,500 students, and 12 classrooms in KG stage accommodating 240 children. The building also contains administration areas, dining halls, multi-purpose rooms, a library, laboratories, music rooms, and a clinic that meets the standards of the Abu Dhabi Health Authority.
Similarly, the new school in Shakhbut city will cater to 1,250 C1 students in 50 classrooms, and 240 kindergarten children in 12 classrooms.
In Al Ain, the new schools accommodate KG and C1 students with a capacity of 1,250 for C1 within 50 classrooms, and 240 kindergarten children within 12 classrooms in each school, along with the associated educational buildings and facilities.
In Al Qou, however, the new school caters to 1,000 students
in C1 within 40 classrooms, and 240 kindergarten children within 12 classrooms, as well as the associated educational buildings
and facilities.
The new schools are expected to be handed over to the ADEC by early August this year.
