Abu Dhabi’s ‘City Guard’ receives global recognition at Harvard

Harvard University, Massachusetts, recently showcased ‘City Guard,’ the leading community engagement interactive application developed by the Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), as a distinctive success story in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector.
The presentation on City Guard was conducted during the Second Developmental Forum for Director Generals of the Abu Dhabi government.
The City Guard app is a free and leading local initiative that aims to encourage the public to switch to e-services, increase civic participation and enhance collaboration between the public and the government to improve the image of the city.
The app enables the public to report any issues in real-time regarding public safety, consumer protection and environmental issues, in addition to any damage to private and public facilities in Abu Dhabi.
Commenting on the occasion, HE Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General at ADSIC, stated: “We are proud to have the City Guard platform showcased as a success story in the context of the ICT sector in e-governance by Harvard University, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious universities. This recognition underlines Abu Dhabi’s leading achievements in the sector, making the emirate a model for innovation, modern e-solutions and pioneering ideas.”
Director General at ADSIC added, “The app continued its success in 2016 serving as a communication channel for citizens and residents of Abu Dhabi through smart phones and smart devices. To date, City Guard has been downloaded 110,690 times since it was first launched in 2013.”
Al Mansoori added, “Thanks to our wise leadership, Abu Dhabi is now one of the world’s leading destinations for investment and conducting business. The leadership has been keen to ensure the development of all vital sectors to enhance Abu Dhabi’s global competitive advantage.”
