In commemoration of Emirati Women’s Day, Abu Dhabi Ports on Monday launched its first ever women’s committee, which aims to reinforce the unique role women play in the sector and wider local community.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports said, “Women empowerment is high on our agenda at Abu Dhabi Ports. The launch of the women’s committee comes as a testament to our commitment to the government’s vision of empowering women to contribute positively to society and to providing women with the necessary
development opportunities.”
“Emirati women make up 78% of the total number of our female workforce while they represent 34% of total Emiratis at the company. In a male-dominated industry, it is vital that we ensure women are motivated, empowered, and have access to the same opportunities available for men,†he added.
Our wise government has continuously worked to eliminate all obstacles standing in the way of women’s advancement in all fields of work and we aim to mirror that vision to ensure every employee of both genders reaches their full potential,” he added.
Dr. Noura Al Dhaheri, General Manager Maqta Gateway and President of newly created women’s committee, said, “I am privileged to have been selected as a president of the ports women’s committee. With this privilege comes great responsibility, and I am excited to start working with my female counterparts on finding creative ways for empowering women at work in our sector. I would like to extend my appreciation to mother of the nation H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood for her endless support of women.”
