Abu Dhabi / Emirates Business
Abu Dhabi Motors, BMW Group’s importer in the Capital, ended 2015 with an exceptional sales growth of 36% in comparison to the previous year. Contributing to its success was a number of strategic partnerships with major organisations across the Emirate, including the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi International Airport and Al Ain Club, which helped contributed to the success of the importer during its 30th anniversary with the BMW Group.
The importer’s impressive performance was also largely driven by sales of the BMW brand’s top-of-the-range X model family, comprising the BMW X6, X5, X4, X3 in addition to the recently added the all-new BMW X1 to its stable. With its significantly increased space for both passengers and luggage, a cutting-edge premium ambience and functionality grounded in solid engineering, the second generation model is expected to bolster the range’s success.
MINI also saw strong growth with Abu Dhabi Motors’ sales of the brand increasing by 32%. The most popular model was the MINI Hatch, with both the 3 and 5
door options contributing to the 450 MINI sales in 2015, followed by the MINI Countryman.
Arno Husselmann, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Motors, said: “We are proud to not only be celebrating three decades of excellence and successful partnership with the BMW Group, but also to once again be the region’s best BMW Group performer in terms of sales. Abu Dhabi Motors’ successful year started with the announcement of a multimillion dirham deal that saw the importer become the official automotive partner for the Al Ain Club for the 2015/16 season, including the delivery of a luxury fleet of BMW vehicles to the Al Ain players and management. The models included the BMW M6, 7 Series and Alpina cars, and were handed over to the first team including the UAE superstar, Omar Abdulrahman, and Vice-Captain Mohamed Ismail Ahmed Ismail in an exclusive event at the Al Ain Club.
A new partnership was also agreed with Abu Dhabi International Airport for a fleet of six new vehicles, comprising five BMW 7 Series models and a Rolls-Royce Phantom. The new Terminal’s VIP and VVIP lounges were also named the BMW Lounge and the Rolls-Royce VVIP Lounge respectively.
