Abu Dhabi / WAM

Abu Dhabi won the hosting rights for the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences 2019, making the UAE the first country in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and only the second in the Middle East to hold this important international event, Emirates Pharmacy Society, a member organisation of the FIP, announced on the sidelines of the Arab Pharmacist Day.
Set to run at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from September 22-26, 2019, the annual FIP congress is expected to attract more than 3,000 participants from across the world, including heads of international and regional associations, as well as key decision makers in various disciplines related to pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences.
Providing a platform to highlight various topics and exchange know-how, experiences and views relevant to the pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, the event will seek to enhance the role of pharmacists in improving healthcare systems across the world. It will examine the most important scientific innovations in the pharmaceuticals domain and explore ways to strengthen the role of the pharmacists in delivering the right treatment regimen and methods.
“Abu Dhabi’s winning bid for the 2019 edition of FIP’s World Congress marks another major success in attracting high-profile international conferences and events to the emirate. It is also a vote of confidence by the global entity on Abu Dhabi’s unique capabilities to host leading world events,” said Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi.
TCA Abu Dhabi, ADNEC and other partners are committed to providing complete support to the conference organisers to promote this international event and achieve its objectives, he noted. “In line with our strategy to attract more specialised international congress to Abu Dhabi, we will leverage our advanced facilities to ensure a productive participation for all those attending the event.”
“The success of Abu Dhabi in attracting this important international congress demonstrates the competitive edge that the emirate has over other leading MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions) destinations,” commented Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, ADNEC Group CEO.
“The International Pharmaceutical Federation is delighted that in 2019 the 79th World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is to be held in Abu Dhabi. We look forward to working with colleagues there to bring our global pharmacy network to the United Arab Emirates so those important discussions on professional issues and developments will take place at this unique location,” FIP President Dr Carmen Pena commented.
During the annual celebration of the Arab Pharmacist Day in Dubai, Dr Mariam Galadari, Pharmacy Division Chairperson, Emirates Medical Association, stated “We are delighted that Abu Dhabi has been chosen as the host country for the FIP Congress 2019.”

This international event is an ideal opportunity for us to network with major pharmaceutical organisations and associations, exchange knowledge and expertise, and build new partnerships.”
“The UAE today boasts a well-developed pharmaceutical sector that provides advanced services on par with the best international standards. In addition to enabling advanced treatments and medication for all, the country also offers enhanced distribution channels for all types of drugs. We are also well-connected with key pharmaceutical research institutions and accreditation agencies,” Galadari added.
