Abdullah bin Zayed, Lord Tariq Ahmad discuss regional developments

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has received Lord Tariq Ahmad, Minister of State Foreign Commonwealth & Development Affairs (South Asia, MEastNAfrica, UN, Human Rights), PM’s Special Envoy for Preventing Sexual Violence.
The meeting, which took place in Abu Dhabi, discussed the developments in the Middle East region and their security and humanitarian implications, as well as the efforts made to reach a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza. Ways to enhance the international response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and the importance of delivering humanitarian and medical aid to civilians in a safe and sustainable manner, featured high during the meeting.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the UAE’s support for all regional and international efforts to reach a sustainable ceasefire, noting the importance of ending extremism, tension and violence in the region in a way that contributes to providing protection for all civilians and ensuring the necessary humanitarian support to the Palestinian people and alleviating their suffering.
The UAE Top Diplomat and Lord Tariq Ahmad also discussed a number of issues of common interest related to the partnership for the future that brings the two countries together.
The meeting was attended by Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs and UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York; and Mansoor Abdullah Khalfan Juma Abulhoul, the UAE ambassador to UK.
