Labour’s Corbyn taunts May over cabinet split

A week of plotting against Theresa May was capped by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn taunting the British prime minister over the splits in her cabinet in their final encounter before Parliament goes on a summer break.
The recess will come as a relief for May after she lost her majority in a botched election gamble that has left the premier vulnerable to a leadership challenge and weakened her hand at the Brexit negotiating table.
Corbyn, 68, got to take a crack at May a day after she had to ask ministers to stop gossiping against her and each other.
“I see a Cabinet bickering and backbiting while the economy gets weaker and people are pushed further into debt,” Corbyn said. “Isn’t the truth that this divided government is unable to give the country the leadership it so desperately needs now to deal with these issues?”
An old-school Socialist once considered the underdog, Corbyn is trying to exploit the weakness of his Conservative rivals and come to power on a call to end austerity. Corbyn has said he is ready to stand in another snap election and even went to Brussels this month to meet with the EU’s Brexit negotiators.
