An agreement to secure co-operation and establish electronic linkage of the Abu Dhabi Events Licensing System in order to facilitate registration and licensing procedures has been reached between Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) and the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), paves the way for a unified online e-service for obtaining event licenses, eliminating the complexity of separately obtaining the necessary approvals from each relevant authority.
The MoU was signed by Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director-General of TCA Abu Dhabi, and Major General Salem Saeed Ghafan Al Jabri, Head of Administration and Human Resources in the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
Saif Ghobash said, “The co-operation between TCA Abu Dhabi and the General Command of the Armed Forces will strengthen the electronic linkage with the Abu Dhabi event licensing system. This will further maximise the two parties’ use of the system’s capabilities and prompt co-ordination between local and national government entities, reflecting the leadership directive to join forces for the UAE’s advancement and the development of a service system provided to all segments of society.”
Ghobash stressed that the signing of the MoU improves service delivery in accordance with best international practices. He further explained that the MoU would also help both parties strengthen their social and national roles enabling them to promote the electronic transformation of government services, facilitate event organisation and improve efficiencies by utilising a fast and user-friendly information structure.

Major General Al Jabri said, “This collaboration stems from the directives and vision of the General Command of the Armed Forces to strengthen relations with various government entities across the Emirates, which is aimed at overcoming obstacles and bridging the gaps in the integration of endeavours between all governmental and private institutions, leading to increased performance of the highest international standards.
“This agreement between our organisations will progress through an action plan to develop proposals and suitable solutions that will most efficiently serve the public interest. A smooth implementation of e-services will facilitate the process of standardising leisure and business event licensing will enhance Abu Dhabi’s position as an exceptional global tourist destination,” he added.
The MoU reflects the strategic objectives of TCA Abu Dhabi and the General Command of the Armed Forces to utilise technologies in e-services, smart government systems and innovative solutions, and keep abreast of international practices in promoting tourism activities and tourism security in Abu Dhabi.
The MoU will contribute to the preservation of the environment as a key objective of Abu Dhabi’s sustainable development by transitioning from a paper-based to a more environmentally friendly system.
