Integrated Transport Information and Navigation System (iTINS), of Abu Dhabi Municipality has been named among the world’s top 40 mobile applications competing for World Summit Award (WSA), 2016.
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), at the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT), announced that the mobile application was recognised amongst 451 nominees competing for the award in eight fields.
Darb was among the best five applications improving the Smart Settlements and Urbanisations for the WSA 2016. The event was organised by the International Media Centre, a non-profit organisation in Salzburg, Austria that collaborates with the UN and serves the community.
“Winning the award is an indication of the Department’s efforts to comply with the Government’s guidance and in line with the Abu Dhabi Plan 2030,” said Salah Al Marzouqi, Head of Transport System at ITC.
“It also follows the Surface Transport Master Plan and the Intelligent Transport Integrated System to maintain an integrated infrastructure to transport network. That is in order to provide the community with smart services and make it happier,” he added.
ITC has conducted a survey on March 2016 and it concluded that 86 percent of the users were satisfied with the services provided by Darb Application.
Darb Application was also awarded with many other local and regional awards which include, The GCC E-Government Award, first place; The UAE Government Summit, first place in Transport and Infrastructure Sector nationally and Sheikh Salem Al Ali Al Sabah Award, fourth place, as one of the best five smart applications in the Arab countries.
Al Marzouqi declared that the project is based on data collection in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Gathering the data is based on Abu Dhabi transport network from traffic flow tracking systems and other transport management systems like: Taxis and buses management system, Mawaqif and Abu Dhabi Airports system. Darb application is downloaded by around 200,000 users.
