A total of 50 projects worth AED 250 million were implemented by the Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) across the emirate during the first quarter of 2017, including academic, maritime, environmental, edutainment , and infrastructure projects.
The projects fit within the comprehensive developmental strategy adopted by the emirate of Sharjah as part of its vision for sustainable urbanisation, said Eng. Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Head of SDPW.
The projects executed during the first three months of the year included construction works at a number of parks and recreational facilities, the main objective of which is to provide well-integrated recreation outlets for residents and tourists alike, he added.
The projects envisages the provision of public utilities, basic and support services, and construction of volleyball, basketball and football courts and mosques, along with electricity and water connections.
Developmental projects in the emirate come at the directions of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and are part of Government strategy to ensure sustainable development while preserving the environment, and
to achieve a perfect balance between economic and social
development.
