Gargash highlights UAE’s counter-terrorism steps

The UAE appreciates the United States administration’s clear policy against extremism and terrorism, and its understanding of relevant regional consequences, said Dr Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
”The war against terrorism requires concerted, united and focussed efforts and co-operation from both countries and civilised communities,” Dr. Gargash said in an intervention during the Ministerial Plenary for the Global Coalition Working to Defeat Daesh, which concluded in Washington on Wednesday night, with participation from 68 foreign ministers of coalition member states.
Dr Gargash, who led the UAE’s delegation to the meeting, highlighted the intellectual approach to countering terrorism. He spoke about the UAE’s role and its multidimensional, counter-messaging and ideological narrative initiatives in this respect.
The minister also stressed the importance of sustaining the national, politically inclusive process, and tracking in Iraq and Syrian in the post-Daesh era. Foreign ministers of the global coalition met in Washington at the invitation of the United States to review and accelerate the military campaign for the defeat of Daesh.
International Security Forum in Abu Dhabi
Under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and in partnership with Interpol and the Interpol Foundation for a Safer World, Abu Dhabi is preparing to host Ministers of Interior and Justice as well as experts and leaders from around the world for the inaugural “Unity for Security Forum” taking place from March, 28-30.
Seven priority crime areas will be the focus of the forum including counter-terrorism, cybercrime, cultural heritage, vulnerable communities, vehicle crime, drugs and illicit goods. These will be addressed on local, national and global levels, leveraging the collective expertise of the members of Interpol, and those gathered to enable global police forces to work together to make the world a safer place.
