His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday received Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, UN, at Al Bahr Palace.
The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince welcomed Guterres and congratulated him on assuming his post as the UN Secretary-General, wishing him success in his mission. He also affirmed the UAE’s support to the UN
efforts in all areas.
The meeting discussed a number of topics, as well as regional developments and the UN’s endeavours to bring about regional and global security, peace and stability.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also stressed the importance of boosting the UN’s role to address current issues in the region and to come up with fair and equitable solutions that would help maintain regional and global security.
The duo also discussed other regional and international issues of interest besides the co-operation between the UAE and the UN organisations.
The UN Secretary-General praised the UAE’s humanitarian and developmental efforts across the world and its initiatives to lessen the plight of the needy people in those countries.
