Shurooq strengthens safety measures at Al Khan beach

The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) announced the implementation of new and improved security procedures along the Al Khan beach in Sharjah, in a bid to enhance safety levels for visitors and tourists who progressively visit the beach on a frequent basis.
The new safety plan aligns with Shurooq’s mission to provide all leisure, family and tourist destinations in the emirate with the highest safety and security standards, while maintain its positive levels of visitor satisfaction and happiness.
The new safety strategy features 2 main and 6 subsidiary watchtowers for lifeguards, in addition to a rescue boat, 2 jet skis and 2 buggy cars. It also includes 17 lifeguards who will patrol the beach throughout the hours the beach will be open to public. Their team comprises 1 supervisor and 2 adjuncts with 12 other lifeguards from sunrise until sunset.
“Being one of the most attractive natural outdoor spaces with numerous activities to engage in, Al Khan Beach is one of the biggest leisure destinations for both residents and tourists in Sharjah. It has been experiencing an increasing footfall year-on-year, and it was an organisational responsibility for us to implement all necessary procedures that were required to deliver a memorable beach-going experience well integrated into the highest quality of safety and security throughout the year, especially during high season,” said Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Chief Operating Officer of Shurooq.
He added: “This reflects the level of satisfaction and peace of mind Sharjah’s beach enthusiasts are experiencing already. Such positive outcomes propel us towards continuing to improve security at the beach. Enhancing beach safety makes it an agreeable and attractive tourist and family destination, and paves the way for many leisure and tourist projects in the future.”

The Al Khan suburb is one of the oldest preserved areas in Sharjah, which displays an exceptional mix of the past and present. The various attractions it offers coupled with its strategic location on Al Khan bay, bordering between Sharjah and Dubai, makes it a popular spot for leisure and tourism attracting visitors from all seven emirates of the UAE and beyond.
