Dubai SME-Al Futtaim Retail pact to enhance SME competitiveness

Dubai SME, the agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai mandated to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Majid Al Futtaim Retail to support members of Dubai SME through the display of their products at Carrefour hypermarkets and supermarkets.
Carrefour is a subsidiary of Majid Al Futtaim Retail with operations across the UAE. The aim of the agreement is to enhance competitiveness amongst members of Dubai SME, support the development of small and medium enterprises in the retail business and contribute to the GDP of Dubai and the UAE.
The MoU was signed at the Dubai SME headquarters in the Business Village by Abdul Baset Al Janahi, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai SME, and Miguel Povedano, Executive Regional Director, Carrefour UAE, in the presence of a number of executives and officials from both sides.
Al Janahi said: “Dubai SME is seeking to help develop small and medium enterprises by partnering with the private sector, thereby increasing their operational productivity and customer reach. This agreement offers rewarding opportunities for members and provides a strong platform to display and promote their products.”
