Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, participated in a panel discussion during 23rd World Energy Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, which continues until Thursday.
DEWA’s participation is part of a high-level delegation, headed by Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy. The World Energy Congress is held under the theme ‘Embracing New Frontiers,’ and gathers more than 150 high-profile leaders from the energy sector, including heads of state and leaders from prominent international organisations. The panel discussion was held on Tuesday, focusing on the topic ‘Financing the Grand Energy Transition’. Al Tayer noted that 75 per cent of the UAE’s energy requirements will come from clean sources by 2050. This supports Dubai Plan 2021 and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2015, in a bid to make Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world. Dubai works in adherence with the UAE’s Green Growth Strategy, and Demand Side Management Strategy.
