DCCI to coordinate EU, Dubai businesses meet

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), will co-ordinate over 100 bilateral meetings between the European Union (EU) and Dubai businessmen on the sidelines of the EU delegation’s visit to the emirate on September 6.
The EU business delegation is led by Peter Bishop, Deputy Chief of London Chamber, and includes over 51 business leaders and decision-makers from the United Kingdom, Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Italy, and Lithuania, representing business services and consultancy, construction, education, fashion and design, food and beverages, healthcare, IT and ICT, renewable energy, oil and gas, tourism, travel and leisure transport.
Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Vice-President, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber, said, “We believe that an open dialogue is essential for preceding economic and trade partnerships. The Dubai Chamber is co-ordinating with its membership base of 193,000 from the targeted sectors to meet their European counterparts as part of the chamber’s efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Dubai businesses in the global marketplace.”
He stressed that Dubai traders have shown great maturity in dealing with the challenges of the global economic slowdown by diversifying their export and re-export activities to 208 destinations worldwide during the first half of this year, as compared to 199 destinations during the same period last year, showing a growth of 6 percent.
Nasib highlighted the chamber’s commitment to stimulate dialogue with global businesses for the emirate’s economic development and the importance of this meeting in creating joint investment opportunities which he said comes as a follow-up to last year’s meeting in light of the interest of foreign investors in various attractive economic sectors of the emirate.
