Daman marks 10th anniversary with 3mn memberships

The National Health Insurance Company, Daman, announced that it reached three million members in its 10th anniversary this year.
The latest membership figures indicated that the Abu Dhabi Basic Plan has reached around 1.5 million, with membership of ‘Enhanced’ health insurance plans reaching upwards of 720 thousand members.
The Thiqa Plan, which was first launched in 2008 and is exclusive for UAE Nationals, has now reached 790 thousand members. Both Thiqa and Abu Dhabi Basic Plan are administered by Daman on behalf of Health Authority – Abu Dhabi. Today’s figures represent a 10% increase in memberships compared to the same period last year and affirms Daman’s leadership position in the sector.
Dr Michael Bitzer, CEO of Daman, said, “We are extremely proud to announce our momentous 3 million membership in our 10th year of operations, and are honoured to have contributed to the development and growth of Abu Dhabi’s healthcare sector.”
He added, “At Daman we want to give back to the community as much as possible. In addition to introducing innovative services for the past ten years, we have made significant contributions to the community through Emiratisation and influencing healthy behaviour. Daman alone accounts for roughly 35% of the UAE National workforce in the insurance sector and our ActiveLife initiative has gained unprecedented momentum with its events attracting total participations of well over 500,000 since 2012.”
