Smart buildings, transport hold key to a tech future

For a city to become ‘smart’ it is the construction and transport sectors that make a huge difference, regional experts say. Pointing towards the effective strategies that the UAE is
following, industry leaders are applauding country’s efforts in development of the aforesaid sectors.
The UAE is preparing to showcase the latest of technologies across a wide range of applications in smart cities during one of the most highly anticipated exhibitions of the year – NATRANS Expo 2016, which will be held from October 25 to 26 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Industry leaders will showcase their latest innovations and solutions at the event that aims to offer the right combination of inter-industry collaboration and public and private sector investment that will drive growth and ultimately improve access and quality of the region’s infrastructure.
Talking to Emirates Business, Peter Costa, vice president, Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions, Middle East, said, “At Honeywell, we believe that smart buildings and smart transport systems are the foundations of smart cities. With the advent of new technologies, we have the experience to transform buildings and transport infrastructure to make it more green, safe and productive for its occupants and users.”

Omnix International will also
be showcasing their autonomous vehicle EZ10 which was jointly built with Easy Mile.
Mamoun Arsan, General Manager of Omnix International, told Emirates Business, “EZ10 is a battery-powered electric vehicle that moves in both directions because it has no specific front or rear, and can run up to four hours with AC on a single charge, while without AC it can run for up to 10 hours. We believe that NATRANS Expo is the perfect venue for showcasing EZ10 and our other solutions for smart transportation and smart cities.”
Two Technical Conferences will be running parallel to the event; one conference will be discussing sustainable transportation and one will be dedicated to IoT in transportation.
The conferences aim to be the industry’s meeting point for all top transport professionals. It will deliver a diverse line up of industry experts, academics and market leaders with more than 75+ speakers from 30 countries and over 300 delegates.
