SEVA Re-Imagined: Where traditional wisdom integrates into contemporary wellness practices

DUBAI / GULF TIME

SEVA stands out in Dubai’s wellness landscape by weaving together a rich tapestry of cultural influences in its offerings. After a summer of stunning renovations, Middle East’s premier wellness centre unveiled a thrilling new chapter in its journey, with new offerings across its wellness, dining, and retail spaces.
Reflecting the city’s multicultural environment, SEVA embraces a variety of wellness practices, including yoga, meditation, sound healing, and personalised treatments. This diversity appeals to both locals and expatriates seeking holistic solutions that resonate with their diverse backgrounds.
As SEVA continues to evolve, its team remains committed to fostering an environment where guests can embark on their personal journeys towards wellness, said Shadi Enbashi, SEVA Co-Founder. “At SEVA, each team member is a steward of the values that guide the centre. Together, they create a space that is both healing and empowering, where authenticity and growth flourish. SEVA’s hiring criteria are designed to attract individuals who are passionate, compassionate, and aligned with the centre’s core mission of holistic well-being, growth and authenticity,” said Enbashi.

Gulf Time interated with two of SEVA staff — Ruba and Meri — about their journeys  to understand more about the people who are at the heart of this wellness centre. SEVA Wellness Manager Ruba’s wellness journey is quite inspiring. Ruba’s journey into wellness started when she made the decision to leave her fast-paced career as a digital marketing manager and prioritise her own mental health.  She moved to Sri Lanka, where she opened a bed and breakfast, allowing herself time to reconnect with life in a more meaningful way.  It was during this time that Ruba discovered her love for surfing, which naturally led her to yoga and meditation—opening the door to a deeper understanding of holistic wellness.
Her personal journey sparked a passion for helping others find balance in their lives. Now, Ruba brings her own experiences into the programs she oversees. Her focus is on creating opportunities for guests to reconnect with themselves, whether through movement, mindfulness, or simply taking time for reflection.
At SEVA, traditional wisdom is integrated into contemporary wellness practices. Workshops and treatments draw from ancient traditions and various healing modalities, fostering a connection to heritage while addressing the universal quest for balance and healing.
SEVA serves as a sanctuary for individuals on their personal journeys, reflecting a broader trend that seeks to nurture the mind and spirit alongside the body.
The emphasis on community and connection at SEVA further distinguishes it within the wellness market. Central to SEVA’s philosophy is SEVA Cafe, which features a fully plant-based, gluten free and cane sugar free menu. This commitment to sustainability and healthy living aligns with global trends towards more conscious eating, tapping into a growing awareness about food sources and environmental impact. And behind this, there’s Meri, SEVA’s Restaurant Manager, who thrives on curiosity and the joy of not knowing it all. She keeps her ears to the ground towards creating a vibe where wellness isn’t just a buzzword — it’s the foundation. Meri ensures the rest of the experience flows like a great conversation, one where every customer feels seen, heard, and understood.
Moreover, the rising awareness of mental health has spurred demand for practices that promote mindfulness and emotional balance. SEVA’s workshops and meditation sessions respond to this need, offering tools for personal growth and resilience.

Sound Healing
Dubai’s wellness industry is seeing substantial growth, and sound healing meditation has emerged as one of the most popular practices. “At SEVA, we’ve experienced a 30% increase in footfall for our sound healing gatherings over past six months, reflecting the growing demand for holistic wellness solutions,” said SEVA Co-Founder Enbashi. The practice, which uses sound vibrations from instruments like Tibetan and crystal bowls, attracts individuals seeking to reduce stress, improve mental clarity, and experience physical healing.
This rising trend at SEVA is fostering more than just personal transformation; it’s creating a positive ripple effect throughout the community. Participants often leave our sessions with a renewed sense of clarity, balance, and connection—not only to themselves but also to those around them.
As more individuals in Dubai embrace sound healing, SEVA has become a central hub for nurturing personal well-being and cultivating a supportive wellness community. SEVA reminds us all that true healing begins with listening — both to the sound around us and the sound within, he added.
