“Sharjah 24,†the popular bilingual news website of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, has been awarded the 2022 Global Excellence Award in the field of the web and the digital world.
The award, based in the US, recognises the news portal’s constant efforts and commitment to report and publish with honesty, objectivity and transparency all political, economic, cultural, educational, sports and social news and events in Sharjah and the UAE, in addition to Gulf, Arab and international affairs.
Welcoming the US award, Fatima Ibrahim, Editor-in-Chief of Sharjah 24, said, “Since its launch in 2015, Sharjah 24 has been dedicated to highlighting Sharjah’s rapid growth and its historic achievements in various fields, besides contributing to the development of the digital media sector in the emirate and its prominent position on the global media map.
The news portal employs the latest communication technologies and best online media practices in accordance with the vision of HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which is based on universal noble human values, celebrated cultural traditions and authentic heritage of the emirate and the UAE.”

Sharjah 24 website, www.sharjah24.ae, available both in Arabic and English, is a leading and comprehensive government news website launched by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau and is headquartered in Sharjah. The website was launched following an Emiri decree by HH, the Ruler of Sharjah, in January 2015.
‘Sharjah 24’ enjoys wide reader interest and following around the world. The website registered more than 5 million daily reader visits between 2021 and 2022, whereas social media interactions by followers on its various accounts exceeded 200 million.
