Cutting-edge latest technology in payments saw the light of day at the 2016 edition of Cards & Payments Middle East — the region’s largest payment and banking solutions gathering, which opened at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre. While on one hand, visitors explored how to recharge from a fuel station, on the other hand companies tried opening bank accounts with a swipe of an identity card.
The event acted as a platform where various new technologies made their debut through live demonstration sessions.
Gemalto, the digital security company that works for creating national ids and e-ID card programmes showcased a rich mix of innovative solutions and live demonstrations to serve up its vision for a secure and frictionless digital banking and payment experience.
Talking to Emirates Business, Mohamed Anis Chemli, Sales Director — GCC and Levant Secure Transitions and Telecom, at Gelmato said, “As specific and focussed this show is, it is our favourite place to come and this time it is even more productive because of the on-the-spot demonstrations that are being conducted. This event is also relevant for showing new technologies as we get
a lot of people form the same field.â€
The strong demo line-up at the stand featured Gemalto’s Next Gen Bank Branch solutions, which lets banks streamline the end-user’s journey from enrollment down to customization of their banking card with the visual of their choice.
Another busy stand at the event was the e-Dirham that has a fuel pump machine plus a digitally advanced kiosk on display, open for live demonstration for the visitors.
Explaining about the same, Sumit Chaudhary, Project manager at Ministry of Finance told Emirates Business, “We are trying to move towards not just cashless but also cardless financial scenario. Events like this are very good platform to showcase the newest technologies and also for good networking. For eDirham it is about showcasing the comprehensive vision for ministry of finance towards the cashless economy and the smart government initiative of the leadership.â€
Also on display for a better understanding of use and purpose, were kiosks and machines of KeyBS, a dynamic solution provider and systems integrator company, which also announced the launch of two international projects in the GCC region during their participation at the event.
