UAE rulers and leaders from the region and around the world have offered their condolences after the death of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Ministry of Presidential Affairs announced the death of Sheikh Khalifa on Friday. He was 73.
In a tweet on his official Twitter account, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, “With great sadness, we mourn the death of our leader and President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I pray to Allah Almighty to grant him peace in Paradise. Sheikh Khalifa was a dedicated leader who served and loved his people, a love they reciprocated, and we ask Allah Almighty to grant us solace and patience.”
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said, “The UAE has lost a loyal son, and the leader of its blessed empowerment journey, whose achievements, wisdom, giving and efforts are embodied in every corner of our country. Khalifa bin Zayed, my brother, supporter and mentor, may Allah Almighty grant you eternal peace.”
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister, expressed their heartfelt condolences to the UAE leadership, government and people on this great loss, and prayed to Allah Almighty to grant Sheikh Khalifa eternal peace and his family and the UAE people patience and solace.
President of the United States Joe Biden has expressed his deep sadness over the passing of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and said, “Sheikh Khalifa was a true partner and friend of the United States throughout his decades-long tenure as President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his sadness over the passing of Sheikh Khalifa, and noted that Sheikh Khalifa has been a pillar in strengthening friendly relations and establishing cooperation between the two countries.
The Egyptian Cabinet; His Eminence Professor Sheikh Dr. Shawki. Allam, Grand Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt; and Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of S. Mark, Head of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Egypt, expressed their sincere condolences to the UAE leadership, government and people, asking God Almighty to bless the soul of the late UAE leader and dwell him in His vast gardens, in recognition of the noble services he had rendered to the Arab and Islamic nations.
