DUBAI / WAM

Preparations are now underway for the upcoming “UAE Maritime Week 2018,” a first-of-its-kind event on the regional map, being held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
Organised by the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) from October 28 to November 1, the event is expected to attract international attention, as it serves as a strategic platform for international maritime industry leaders to explore the future of the maritime industry, based on solid foundations of innovation, knowledge and smart transformation.
Week-long maritime activities are aimed at promoting international best practices and exchanging knowledge and the latest maritime and technological innovations that can help contribute to the development of a competitive, inclusive and attractive maritime community positioning Dubai and the UAE across the world’s leading maritime capitals.
Regarding the planned event, Amer Ali, Executive Director of the DMCA, said, “The UAE Maritime Week will once again bring together international maritime industry leaders to explore the reality and future of the maritime sector, which is a vital contributor to the global economy. The Maritime Week will further bolster Dubai and the UAE’s move to consolidate its position as a major gateway to international trade, with the continued support of our leadership.
“We look forward to the discussions on the agenda, with a view to promote constructive dialogue, facilitate knowledge transfer channels, share the most successful experiences and best practices with decision makers and leaders of the maritime industry throughout the world, and explore the prospects, in light of the rapid changes taking place in the global maritime industry.” The next edition of the biennial event will be marked by a high-profile schedule of maritime activities, including the Dubai Maritime Summit, which is scheduled to simultaneously take place on October 28.
This event is an important addition to the efforts of establishing Dubai’s leadership on the global maritime map.
