FANR seeks public comment on draft radiation safety regulation

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), released a draft radiation safety regulation and invited public to review the draft and comment.
According to a press statement, FANR revised Regulation No. 04 for Radiation Dose Limits and Optimisation of Radiation Protection for Nuclear Facilities, which establishes the radiation dose limits that are relevant to a nuclear facility during its design, construction, and normal operation and decommissioning.
The newly revised regulation aims to be consistent with the radiation dose limits cited in FANR-REG-24 Revision 1 related to the annual Equivalent Dose in the lens of the eye of
a worker in accordance with International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP).
The draft regulation is available on the FANR website. Members of the public are invited to send their comments via email for the next 30 days, from May 50 to June 15.
FANR’s Safety, Security and Safeguards Glossary can help the public to understand the specific terminology used in this regulation. FANR will consider all comments before preparing the final draft.

As with previous regulations and regulatory guides, this draft regulation has already been made available for 30 days to local and federal government entities for their comments.
