The value of subsidy and social privileges and benefits provided by the Federal Government during the first nine months of 2017 amounted to AED38.4 billion against AED34 billion during
the corresponding period in 2016, according to the Ministry of Finance data.
These include price subsidies, social benefits and other privileges provided to UAE nationals, including plots of land and residential units as well as money transfers to government-affiliated companies. The growth in social benefits and subsidy recorded during the first nine months of 2017 reflects the government’s keenness to ensure social welfare and economic wellbeing for UAE nationals.
The state subsidy provided for commodities and social aid as well as for state-run companies reached AED6.7 billion during Q1 2017, AED6.6 billion in Q2 and AED4.4 billion in Q3.
