Vans has teamed up with Scandinavian label & Other Stories on a special collection for
Summer 2016.
The ‘Co-Lab’ project has seen the skate sneaker brand create three
exclusive styles for the purpose of being transformed into an artistic canvas for & Other Stories’ designs.
The collection features both a Slip-On and an Old Skool sneaker model in raw, canvas-like linen, alongside a premium leather Slip-On featuring an art print created by Pauline Abascal, Pattern Designer at & Other Stories’s Paris workshop.
The designs feature a bold colour scheme of emerald greens, peach tones and burnt reds, mixed together in a modern and abstract watercolor-like pattern.
“The inspiration comes from paintings, which led to the idea to use canvas,” explains Pauline Abascal, Pattern Designer at & Other Stories. “Our three different versions range from clean canvas to vibrantly colored leather, almost like a piece of art that you can wear with anything.”
Camille Thin, Senior Merchandising Manager Women’s at the fashion label, adds that the result is a product that feels ‘elaborated and luxurious’.
It is the second big collaboration so far this year for the cult Swedish fashion brand, which announced it was teaming up with the risqué New York-based leather accessories designer Zana Bayne on a fall capsule collection earlier this month.
Vans and & Other Stories falls under the H&M umbrella but takes a more Scandinavian, minimalistic approach to design. The Vans & Other Stories Co-Lab collection is now available in stores priced at €85 for the Canvas Slip-On, €90 for the Old Skool, and €100 for the Leather Slip-On.
