Ryanair Holdings said it was forced to cancel more than 350 flights over two days late last month when air-traffic control in the UK was hit by an outage, disrupting air space across the country.
The Irish low-cost airline said in a traffic statistics release that 63,000 of its passengers faced cancellations on August 28 and 29 because of the issue at UK airspace manager NATS.
Ryanair said the cause of the technical failure, which happened on a national bank holiday, has not yet been explained.
On the day of the glitch, almost 800 flights leaving UK airports were axed and 786 flights arriving into UK airports were called off, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium. The following day saw lower numbers of cancellations but disruption remained as aircraft and crew were out of position.
