The Head of UN High Commissioner for Refugees Sub-office in Yemen has commended the multi-purpose projects and developments carried out by the UAE to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
“The UAE has accomplished myriad multipurpose humanitarian and developmental projects and multifarious activities and initiatives which I feel very delighted to see in Yemen,” Jacqueline Parlevliet said, noting that the UNHCR Office has many a time collaborated with various departments in the UAE to meet the needs of the Yemeni people in the towns and villages of the Red Sea Coast.
The UN official made the statements in a recent meeting with the Emirates Red Crescent Representative in the Red Sea Coast where they reviewed the prospects for accelerating cooperation in training the relief teams in charge of the internally displaced persons camps and centres in the West Coast.
The meeting addressed the progress of projects and initiatives carried out by the UAE, including drilling of 32 wells, overhauling 44 medical centres, 40 schools, 22 fishing ports and distribution of 159,335 food baskets in the liberated villages in the Red Sea Coast.
