A Geneva-based human rights official has praised the UAE for its latest initiatives in promoting tolerance and human rights. Dr Hanif Al Qasim, Chairman of the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue, said on Sunday that the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Tolerance and the International Institute for Tolerance, launched on Saturday by Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, represent an unprecedented initiative in overcoming future challenges, while encouraging creativity, innovation and care of human beings everywhere, regardless of sex, colour or faith.
The award seeks to foster knowledge and awareness across the world and present the approach pursued by the UAE to philanthropy, co-operation and solidarity.
, that was created by the country’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and is being continued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Rulers of the Emirates, Al Qasim said in a statement.
