His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the opening session of the fourth edition of the Knowledge Summit at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The summit which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), bears the theme, ‘Knowledge and the 4th Industrial Revolution’.
Sheikh Mohammed also attended the launch of ‘Literacy Challenge Initiative’, which targets 30 million Arabs by 2030. The initiative is a collaboration between MBRF, UNESCO and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, and HH Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also attended the event.
Sheikh Mohammed also attended the release of the Global Knowledge Index, which was launched by MBRF and UNDP, where Switzerland topped the Index. The Index is the first of its kind in the world and has enlisted 140 countries, offering a platform to exchange insight and expertise. It is set to contribute to economic and social development strategies around the world, enrich the knowledge movement, and serve as a roadmap for the sustainable development of human societies.
At the end of the opening session, His Highness, the Crown Prince of Dubai, along with the chairman of MBRF honoured the winners of the third edition of MBRF Award.
