Percentage of UAE women in nuclear industry highest in world

Emirati women make up for 20 percent of the workforce in the UAE’s nuclear energy industry, the highest rate globally in the nuclear energy sector, a senior official at the Nawah Energy Company, a subsidiary of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), said on Monday.
“This strong presence of women in the nuclear sector reflects the high status they have achieved, thanks to the continuous support rendered by the country’s wise leadership as well as the country’s keen interest in promoting their essential role in sustainable development,” Hasna Yousuf Al Blooshi, director for nuclear performance improvement at Nawah, said in a statement to Emirates News Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of the 24th Women in Nuclear, WiN, Annual Global Conference.
The event began on Monday under the patronage of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, President of the General Women’s Union and Chairwoman of Motherhood and Childhood Supreme Council. Held for the first time in the Middle East, the conference has been organised by ENEC to celebrate women’s role in the nuclear industry and inspire them to take part in all segments under the industry, including energy and healthcare.
