Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi dismissed Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, a day after he removed six members of the cabinet in his government’s biggest leadership overhaul since he took power in 2015.
Nyusi didn’t provide any reason for the decision, nor did he immediately name a replacement in a statement from his office Thursday. Do Rosario had been in the post since Nyusi appointed him in 2015 soon after being sworn in for his first presidential term.
The leader on Wednesday dismissed Finance Minister Adriano Afonso Maleiane, Energy Minister Max Tonela and four other cabinet members and is also yet to name their successors.
