His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Tuesday visited the Seoul National Cemetery at the beginning of his official visit to the Republic of Korea.
The visit to the memorial began with a flag-saluting ceremony. His Highness then laid a wreath at the memorial, which symbolises the victims of the Korean people who sacrificed their lives for their country.
“The commemoration of those who sacrificed themselves in defence of their homeland, and to keep this memory alive in the minds and hearts of generations, is the least that can be offered to them. This remarkable national landmark honours lives who has left an impressive mark on the history of Korea and the development of its people,” he said.
During the visit, His Highness was accompanied by HH Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Executive Committee; Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority; Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court; and Abdullah Saif Ali Al Nuaimi, UAE Ambassador to South Korea
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces arrived earlier on Tuesday to Seoul on an official visit to Korea.
During the visit, he will hold official talks with President Moon Jae-in of South Korea to discuss enhancing strategic relations and means of developing them and a number of regional and international issues of common concern.

Mohamed bin Zayed tours Samsung R&D centre in South Korea

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, visited on Tuesday the Samsung Device Solutions Research Centre in Hwaseong, South Korea.
As part of the visit, His Highness toured Samsung’s fifth-generation semiconductor showroom and production line.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also met with Lee Jae-yong, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics, where they discussed means to enhance cooperation between UAE companies and Samsung Electronics, specifically in fifth-generation communications, semiconductors and artificial intelligence technologies.
The tour also included a live demonstration of the latest Samsung technologies, including an unmanned aircraft flying over the Hwaseong centre that captured 360-degree, high-definition video footage, and transferred to virtual reality (VR) goggles, which His Highness wore as part of the demonstration, showcasing the speed and stability of 5G communications and the simultaneous transmission of HD video content on the latest K8 QLED television screen.
His Highness also viewed a photo presentation of his visit to Korea in 2006.
Sheikh Mohamed met senior officials from Samsung, where discussions on company’s development vision, especially in AI technologies, were held. During the meeting, His Highness expressed his pleasure at the visit, and his getting acquainted with state-of-the art technologies, wishing company officials and staff more success.
The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince also inspected the facility’s double tiered structure clean room, used for research and development of next-generation technologies including nano and process technology, among other materials and systems.
“What I have seen today at Samsung Electronics Research and Development Centre is both impressive and appreciated. Advanced technologies and innovative industries provide solutions for a better life, we in the UAE care to keep up with innovative technologies and the advanced sciences, supporting partnerships to improve our society’s quality of life,” he said during the tour.

Current bridges of cooperation between UAE, South Korea are solid: Mohamed

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, visited the National Assembly of South Korea headquarters in Yeouido.
Upon his arrival at the historic site, His Highness was greeted by Moon Hee-sang, Speaker of the National Assembly along with a number of members the Korean assembly.
Sheikh Mohamed and Moon Hee-sang exchanged friendly talks and discussed bilateral ties between the two friendly countries. They also exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual concern, and discussed means to enhance cooperation in fifth-generation technologies and artificial intelligence.
Moon Hee-sang welcomed the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince to South Korea, adding, “The UAE is an ideal country that enjoys political stability and openness, and is a leader for peace and stability in region. The Papal Visit to the UAE is testament to this, and sends a message of peace from the UAE to the world.”
The National Assembly Speaker expressed his hope that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s visit to Korea will be a good start for the Korean peninsula, which is awaiting the outcomes of the upcoming North Korea-United States Vietnam Summit.
He also said that he hopes that strategic relations between the UAE and Korea will continue to grow, noting that the National Assembly supports existing ties between the two countries.
Moon Hee-sang also highlighted Barakah Nuclear Power Plant project, an important symbol of cooperation between the two countries, noting the importance behind the project’s success in the use of peaceful nuclear energy programmes.
He also noted South Korea’s participation in the upcoming Special Olympics World Games 2019 in Abu Dhabi, adding that 150 Paralympians will take part in the games in March. “This is the largest participation by the Korean national team in the Special Olympics,” adding that Korea supports its heroes.
For his part, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed noted the strategic partnership between the UAE and Korea, adding that his visit to the National Assembly emphasises the institutional nature that brings together bilateral ties, and the UAE’s appreciation and admiration of Korean culture, and its innovative progress. His Highness expressed his aspirations for relations between the two friendly countries to continue to grow for decades to come.
He also relayed his wishes for the success of the summit between the US President and North Korean President to achieve peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula.
Speaking about peace efforts in the region, His Highness said that the UAE, since its inception, sends a positive message to the world, in that there is hope and optimism to establish peace, stability and coexistence in the Middle East. “This was highlighted in the historic visit of the Grand Imam of Al Azhar of and the Head of the Catholic Church, signing the Human Fraternity Document, which aims to achieve peace and tolerance between religions,” he added.
Sheikh Mohamed also spoke about relations between the UAE and the Republic of Korea, adding that current bridges of cooperation are solid, and that the UAE always aspires to improve these relations.
The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince thanked the Speaker of the National Assembly for the warm reception, expressing his thanks and appreciation for Moon Hee-sang’s support to further develop ties between the two countries. “I am very happy to visit the Korean National Assembly and meet with its leaders. Parliamentary relations are an important part of our close ties, and are one of the main pathways of collaboration that enrich the common interests of both countries and peoples,” Sheikh Mohamed added.
