The 39th session of the GCC Summit was held on Sunday in Riyadh under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud with the participation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who headed the UAE delegation to the summit.
King Salman delivered the summit’s opening speech, which explained that Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the GCC summit is in response to the desire of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman, while expressing his best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and luck to the Sultanate of Oman in chairing the current sessions of the GCC.
King Salman said that the GCC was established to strengthen the security, stability, growth, prosperity and welfare of the citizens of GCC countries, as they are its main resource, as well as to achieve their aspirations and hopes. He also highlighted the efforts to preserve GCC and strengthen its present and future roles, as Allah Almighty graced its countries with human and natural resources that promoted its civilised role in the region and around the world, which require all leaders to harness their energies to serve the GCC’s peoples and preserve the security and stability of GCC countries and the region.
