President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday received a written invitation from King Abdullah II of Jordan to attend the Arab League Summit, to be hosted by Jordan in late March 2017.
The written invitation was delivered to Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, by the visiting Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid underlined the need for serious co-ordination and co-operation between the Arab states to defend the interests of their people and achieve social and economic development as the foundation for building a promising future for the Arab youth by creating jobs opportunities and promoting the spirit of patriotism and Pan-Arab nationalism among the generations.
He also lauded the efforts being made by the King, government and people Jordan to combat terrorism in all ways and with co-operation with all involved states aiming to protect their territory, people and sovereignty.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed further stressed that the UAE supports Jordan’s efforts in eliminating the phenomenon of terrorism, which is alien to safe Arab societies.
Judeh conveyed the Jordanian King’s greetings to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed. The King wished continued good health for the UAE leadership and further prosperity and progress for the Emirati people.
Sheikh Mohammed and Judeh also discussed the importance of promoting unique bilateral relations between the UAE and Jordan and their people to enhance pan-Arab solidarity, achieve stability in the region and serve the interests of the states and their people as well as international peace.
Others who attended the meeting included HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Co-operation; Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai; Juma Abdullah Al Abbadi, Ambassador of Jordan to the UAE; Dr Sa’ed Radaideh, Jordanian Consul-General in Dubai and officials from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
