Half a million UAE citizens will benefit from subsidised national food products.
The gesture is in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director-General of the Khalifa bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation (KF) said that there is a major development in the provided subsidised national goods to UAE citizens where the number of beneficiaries of this programme has increased. He added that Emirati families have been benefiting from 50 subsidised food commodities that meet most of their needs on a daily basis.
At a press conference, held at KF’s headquarters and in the presence of its main partners, Al Khouri said that the provided subsidised national products to Emiratis comprise of basic commodities and represent main food components including rice, sugar, milk, coffee and others.
He added that about 1,000 tonnes of discounted food stuff will be provided to the UAE citizens on a monthly basis and include basic food stuff. He also pointed out that KF always receives suggestions to develop the subsidiary programme, hence, the number of the provided commodities have increased to 55 multiple food products.
He said that 70,000 Emirati families will benefit from this programme at an average of 500,000 persons who are now receiving subsidised commodities 20 to 50 percent below the original price in the market.
