Finland planning gradual easing of Covid-19 curbs

Finland’s government presented a gradual plan for exiting Covid-restrictions, starting with the executive relinquishing emergency powers later this month.
Tight restrictions would be eased in May, and lesser restrictions gradually from June. The government will prioritise removing restrictions affecting children, Prime Minister Sanna Marin said at a press conference. The timetable is conditional on the development of the Covid-situation — currently still serious, she said.
The government is inviting comments from the public until April 16.
The plan marks a quick turnaround for the government, which last week backed down from a proposed lockdown that would have severely limited movement in the largest cities and was found unconstitutional by the parliament.
