Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) recognised its unsung heroes who helped control 100 percent of fires up to the third quarter of 2016 across its retail network.
As part of its ongoing commitment to environment, health and safety (EHS), ENOC has an agreement with Dubai Civil Defense (DCD) since 2011 to use its training facility in Al Awir to train the company’s staff working at service stations. In 2014, DSD Training Center was further enhanced with the addition of a new training facility built by ENOC dedicated for training its own staff. Designed to improve fire emergency response in a realistic environment, the facility includes a fire simulator, a model refinery and a model forecourt.
His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of ENOC, said: “The safety of our customers and staff is our utmost priority. Our frontline staff across our service station network are trained to follow the highest EHS standards and procedures. By recognising these unsung heroes, we aim to celebrate their effort as they work tirelessly to fulfill the Group’s EHS objectives while also maintaining the safety of our customers, assets and employees.”
ENOC’s Fire Specialists work closely with DCD to provide practical firefighting training in fire emergencies and managing fire-related incidents. Over 3000 site staff have been trained in the last two years, which has enabled effective fire emergency response at ENOC’s retail network of 113 service stations.
The training modules are held at regular intervals at the DCD facility, with a focus on three levels; for supervisors (emergency responders), forecourt and non-forecourt site staff (initial fire responders) and for fire wardens at staff accommodations.
