Abu Dhabi / WAM

DRS Technologies Inc. announced it has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quality contract (IDIQ) worth up to US$22 million by the US Navy for updated communications systems that allow ship commanders to securely share real-time tactical data.
The initial five-year contract for the Link-11/Link-22 tactical data system is worth $9.3 million, with a second five-year option that could bring the total to $22 million, the company announced on the first day of IDEX 2017.
Aaron Hankins, Vice President of DRS’ Advance Intelligence, Reconnaissance and Surveillance business unit, said, “This award continues a long relationship between the US Navy and DRS Technologies in the design, development, fielding, and sustainment of Link-11 and now Link-22
systems.”

“This solution also provides the ability to conduct field maintenance activities and system upgrades without returning the unit to a depot facility, saving time and money,” he added.
