The Abu Dhabi Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities (DPM) will showcase its latest digital development projects in the Abu Dhabi digital
government pavilion at GITEX 2017.
The DPM has been invited to attend the event due to its impressive achievements in developing and implementing digital enhancements to its processes and customer services.
During the week-long event it will demonstrate its new digital program framework, which provides a remote communications channel between its employees and the industry consultants and allows them to review the process of work in a faster and more efficient way. The program is still in the first phase of implementation.
Held at Dubai World Trade Center from 8-12 October, GITEX will be attended by leaders of government entities, private companies and technology giants as well as industry innovators from around the globe. It will exhibit and explore the latest technologies and products such as smartphones, computers, wearable technologies and virtual-reality devices (VRs).
The event is perfectly aligned with the UAE Government’s smart transformation strategy, which was rolled out to meet the growing demand on technology solutions and improve government services by providing easy-to-use digital solutions for customers.
As a leading government entity, the DPM is playing an important role in achieving this strategy.
Eng. Amer Al Hammadi, Executive Director, of Corporate Services Sector, DPM, said: “The government and private sectors in Abu Dhabi are working hard to achieve the digital transformation agenda led by the government. The implementation of smart technologies and digital services will help everyone diversify their communication channels, boost government integration and reach out to a wider segment of customers.
“The DPM is committed to formulating and implementing modern digital policies that can enhance transparency and efficiency among all partners and stakeholders. Although Abu Dhabi is a relatively new city, it’s witnessing a rapid development in all fields, especially in the area of smart transformation, thanks to the great and unlimited support given by our wise leadership.â€
Earlier this year, in line with the Abu Dhabi Plan, the DPM rolled out its first phase of online services as part of its digital transformation project, enhancing processes and customer user-experience at the click of a button.
With a clean streamlined look and accessible digital services, the website acts as a ‘one-stop shop’ for developers, other government entities, students and consultants and Pearl Qualified Professionals – saving them both time and effort.
The authority also recently won a prestigious international award for its innovative use of Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping technology used in its world leading urban planning work. This award has led to its newly developed online portal being ranked one of the ‘best practice sites’ using GIS technology.
